JOURNEYMAN CRANE OPERATORS (Opening Date January 15, 2014) - ALBERTA

Payroll & Benefits Supervisor - Edmonton Central Office

Sterling Crane requires an individual to fill the salaried position of Payroll & Benefits Supervisor to work out of our Central office in Edmonton, AB.  This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer for Sterling Crane Canada.

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of weekly payroll for unionized and non-unionized employees within five provinces of Canada (2 Payroll Administrators)
  • Maintaining JD Edwards Enterprise One current payroll system setup; updating as required for new earning codes, calendar year changes, and union agreement changes
  • Processing of semimonthly salaried payroll and benefits with ADP Performance Pack
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Preparing, reconciling and remitting information returns (T4’s) and summaries to the CRA
  • Reviewing and streamlining current payroll processes to increase efficiency and productivity within the department

Potential candidates should have experience with JD Edwards, Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word), ADP Performance Pack and possess related unionized payroll experience.  A minimum PCP designation with the Canadian Payroll Association is required.  Strong communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills, along with a willingness to learn and attention to detail are required for this role.

Heavy Duty Mechanic (Journeyman) - Branch 90 (Heavy Lift Division)

Sterling Crane is looking for a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to work out of Branch 90 (Heavy Lift Division)

This position is dedicated for the Heavy Lift Division to maintain their fleet of crawler cranes from 330 ton to 1325 ton capacity must have Liebherr and Demag experience and be able to read and understand all types of schematics.  The successful candidate must have a Journeyman HD Mechanic Ticket, demonstrate safe work practices, follow company policies and be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.  A strong background in electrical and hydraulic systems would be considered an asset.

This position will be based from Edmonton or Ft.McMurray, Alberta and pay rates are based on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement in place with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955, base rate of $45.15 per hr. plus additional benefits available through membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.  LOA will be negotiable for Ft. Senior Computer Support Technician - Edmonton, AB.

Sterling Crane is looking to fill the position of Senior Computer Support Technician in the Information Technology group at the Edmonton corporate office.  The position will report to the Director of Information Systems, Edmonton, AB.

The successful candidate must be customer service oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems.  They should have a strong understanding of the various hardware, software and network systems being supported and be able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Typical duties include:

  • Act as both a primary and escalation support resource addressing service requests from our international user community
  • Establish, maintain and follow operational procedures
  • Work with the user community and other IT staff members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues relating to the use of personal computers and various applications and network connectivity
